Going Solo Together

At Noma, we're all about helping people take the plunge into the nomadic lifestyle. Whether you're looking to dip a toe in or dive headfirst, we're here to support you on your journey. But don't just take our word for it, our amazing Noma alumni, Jenny Bright, has shared her experiences as a Not Solo-nely Traveler with Noma:

Not Solo-nely Traveler

Before Noma I found myself stuck in an endless loop of wanting to book a work-cation trip but waiting on the stars to align and travel with friends or family.

However, things like work flexibility, coordinating dates, deciding on mutually desired destinations, which friends could join, planning for multiple people, or number of people changing are all common scenarios that lead to travel being put on the back burner. Then the dilemma hits - should I wait on others or go it alone?

The thought of solo traveling can be daunting. Factors like shouldering all costs, safety concerns, and loneliness all deterred me from solo traveling for many years. After hours of sifting through reviews, blogs, and guides I was overwhelmed. Then I stumbled across Noma’s page and discovered that they've already done all the heavy lifting for me.

Top solo traveler troubles solved:

Traveling solo does not have to be lonely. In my first Noma experience I found myself saying “yes” to so many things I would have shied away from if I was solo traveling. Conquering karaoke stages, game night laughter fests in living rooms, endless conversations at meals, and exploring the hidden gems of the city all would have been missed had I taken the same trip solo. The memories you make, with the friends you have yet to meet, will impact your life and enhance any trip you take.

Don’t let the fear of the unknown hold you back. Noma solves the traveling stress so you can explore and not be a solo-nely traveler.

About Jenny Bright

Hi, I’m Jenny Bright – a lifelong learner who started my career journey as an educator turned project manager for an EdTech company. I’m passionate about learning and sharing knowledge with others to make an impact. My curiosity of the unknown and neuro-spicy brain has led me to be extremely organized and detail-oriented; which is how I progressed from teaching to customer service to team lead to project manager within 2 years. Give me a problem to solve, and I’ll get it figured out!

With this love of learning and passion for my job comes very blurred lines between work and life. I find a lot of value in work, but it took me a bit to see how that was impacting myself and my family/friends. Burning out and isolating at home all weekend to recoup before Monday became my norm. Life was speeding by, and I realized my personal goals mattered too. That push caused me to change from teaching to the EdTech space. This remote role enables me to travel, visit loved ones, work and truly strive for a better work/life balance. However, not many of my loved ones have that same freedom to travel which pushed me out of my comfort zone to start solo traveling and inspired this blog. The unknowns are not a roadblock but an opportunity to grow and learn!

If you’re just starting your solo traveling journey, or a seasoned digital nomad, I’d love to connect!
